A Word On the World

Posted by Paul on June 6, 2020

So, there's a special awkwardness that comes from shouting about your game when the world is proverbially on fire, and we'd like to address that.

With The Steam Game Festival approaching (originally scheduled for June 9th), we had a lot to do and wanted it done in advance, aiming for June 1st. Not only the Rotund Rebound demo itself, but assets like its website and trailer, a Discord for demo players to come to, Rotund Zero to play and discuss while waiting for the full game's release, and materials for the press.

Preparing all of this was a huge task involving extra long hours and no days off for two weeks straight, which left us a little out of the loop on what was happening out in the wider world. Had we had a better grip on things (and had we known Steam would delay the festival), we definitely would have postponed things ourselves. Bad timing.

Amidst all of this turmoil, we've been uncertain what Dahku might do to take definitive supportive action. With no games currently for sale, a lack of financial reserves, and about as much social presence as a pebble in a parking lot, it seems Dahku as a company can't do much of anything. But we have, as individuals, donated to help the Black Lives Matter cause, and the spirit of our tiny studio stands with them in the fight for equality and basic human rights.

We would also like to applaud other studios who have stepped up to do what they can, specifically those who have added their games to bundles to raise money for social justice. We encourage all gamers to grab these and help the world become a better place!
