It may not look very different, but the website has received a major technical upgrade under the surface. Among the countless improvements is an official jump to an https address.

More important than the upgrades is the reason for them; we're getting ready for big things to come. Stay tuned!

Earlier this year, after careful consideration and much deliberation, we selected March 20th, 2020. It felt good for our projected schedule and March was supposedly a good month for indies without many AAA releases. Shortly thereafter, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Animal Crossing New Horizons came along, two of 2020's biggest games, both announced for March—ACNH on the same day even. Not wanting to put consumers in the tight spot of having to pick between three epic titles, we decided to push our release date back.

Joking aside, we obviously can't hope to compete for attention amid the likes of those giants. Our release date plans entered limbo as we reconsidered viable alternatives. And we're still in limbo, to be honest, but we're seeing it in a positive light. For a two-man team running themselves ragged, more time is never a bad thing as we continually improve upon our original vision for the game. We'll let you know once we've honed in on a new date.

Race and chase through a warped forest

Release delays aside, things are still progressing nicely. Recently we put the existing portion of the game into the hands of some advanced test players. Working with them has been a very interesting and involved process. Thanks to their feedback we've made a number of important tweaks and implemented new features that strengthen the game's experience in subtle but hugely satisfying ways. We look forward to sharing this refinement process through more in-depth dev blogs to come. In the meantime, be sure to check out the updated screenshots, Wishlist if you haven't yet, and all that good stuff. Thanks!

It's been a while, huh? As with our previous post, lack of updates has not been for lack of progression. Rotund Rebound is coming along very nicely and we're more hyped for it than ever. That said, we have reevaluated the time we'll need to comfortably finish, polish, and promote the game, and we feel confident targeting an early 2020 release (official date TBA as we close in).

Yeah, it's still a ways off. In the meantime, we have some cool news to share. For starters, sit back, relax, and enjoy our snazzy new trailer!

What do you think? Does that not look like a blast to play? But the awesome doesn't end there!

Xbox One and Steam Logos

We want everyone to know in advance where they can expect to find Rotund Rebound. The process of getting signed up and established with various platforms has been more cumbersome than expected, but we're excited to officially announce our first two, Xbox One and Steam! (early Wishlist, anyone?) We expect to be able to announce more platforms soon, but for now this feels like Rotund Rebound has taken a huge step forward on the road from concept to reality.

Thanks for hanging with us!

There are many game marketing articles that say you should get the word out about your project as soon as you have something worth sharing. It made sense to us, particularly as we expected Rotund Rebound to have a relatively rapid development. So we did put the word out, starting with a blog announcement and some animated gifs on Twitter. To those of you who have been patiently watching and waiting since then, we thank you, and we're sorry for the long silence.

We are admittedly way behind schedule, but this is our return to game dev and we don't intend to cut any corners.

Rotund Rebound

We've been working hard and we've been working consistently, but despite carefully planning out Rotund Rebound in detail before ever starting work on it, game creation is a very organic process for us and things have naturally grown beyond our original vision. Combine that with our commitment to give every aspect of the game as much time and care as necessary, and development hasn't been so rapid. But that's only part of it.

Making a great game takes lots of development effort, but making a successful game takes marketing effort. Because we want Rotund Rebound to be both, we've had to open our eyes to a whole different side of the game dev biz. Examining our work from a promotional perspective, figuring out how, when, and where to put our marketing efforts, putting together tools and materials--its been a huge and time-consuming thing for us, but highly essential. Things might have been very different with our earlier titles if we'd known then what we know now.

So apologies again for the chirping crickets around here. If you've been watching, keep watching, and if you haven't, then start, because there's cool stuff on the horizon!

It's been a month since we announced Rotund Rebound. Unfortunately we don't have much more to reveal about the game just yet, but we are working very hard, progress is going well, and we've updated its page here with some WIP screenshots and some animated GIFs we've been sharing on Twitter.
